Intro

A Non-Profit UI/UX Case Study focusing on the Ontario Digital Literacy and Network Access websiteO is a not for profit organization that offers a directory of resources aimed to remove digital literacy and access barriers especially within the 2SLGBT+ communities.

As per the CEO of ODLAN’s request, I worked on redesigning the website to optimize the mobile viewing experience, as well as to cater to seniors, and receive more traffic from the +2LGBTQS community.

Objective

Seniors have a difficult time using the internet and usually feel discouraged to ask people for help out of fear of being judged. Often times they enjoy watching tutorials on their own time and in private. Therefore, we believe if we provide “Learn more” videos on Odlan.ca to educate visitors on how to navigate through the webpages as well as make the website AODA compliant, this will encourage their visitors to feel confident and empowered, and in turn increase website usage.

We had alot of room for improvment in the mobile version of the redesign to streamline it with more AODA features as well as making sure it was cohesive with the desktop version. We iterated to add a few more visuals to the design, as well as more photography to add a more human element and touch to the previously bland, image-less version. We opted for higher contrast design elements, and kept the colours fun and bright to appeal to our LGBTTQ2S+ users.
